A 30-year-old Namibian female was arrested on Sunday morning, the 22nd of September 2024, at OR Tambo International Airport. The female was a drug mule who swallowed bullets of suspected drugs, this brings the total of 10 drug traffickers to be arrested at this airport in the past two months. The Drug mule landed from Brazil, Sau Paulo at about 07:25, SARS customs, immigration officials, and SAPS were following up on intelligence of a drug mule.

The team immediately intercepted her as she was making her way through immigration, and got arrested, she was then transported to the local hospital where s medical x-ray confirmed and detected foreign objects in her stomach, she released more than 60 capsules of cocaine, and the estimated weight was 850 grams.

The national commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola has again applauded the vigilance of the multidisciplinary team working tirelessly to clampdown on criminality at the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Masemola said that men and women in blue are hard at work intercepting hardened criminals, “We are squeezing the space for criminals and leaving nothing to chance.”, concluded Masemola.
The drug mule was moved to the detention facility and is expected to appear before the Kempton Park magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
