Deputy President Collapses at N'wamitwa Day Celebration

Deputy President Paul Mashatile (62) was giving a keynote at the 16th anniversary of N'wamitwa Day in Limpopo, N'waMitwa village outside of Tzaneen, on Saturday when, he was about to finish his speech, he collapsed.

According to multiple reports, the Deputy President collapsed because of heat, he was then escorted to receive medical treatment. Mashatile's spokesperson Keith Khoza told the media that the Deputy President is "fine" following a medical checkup.


The President and Deputy president usually travel with a team from South African Medical Services (SAMS) , who are responsible for medical care. The temperatures in the region were extremely hot with 36 degrees on Saturday where the celebrations were being held.


The afternoon after the morning incidents of collapsing, he said early in the morning, he was sick and felt like he had been food-poisoned


It has been confirmed that the Deputy President has received the necessary medical attention and is well.
