Mpumalanga police arrested 95 Libyan foreign nationals , 26 July 2024 in illegal training camp

Home Affairs (DHA) is yet to determine the circumstances surrounding 95 Libyan nationals on how they have obtained their visas.
On the 26 of July 2024. In the community of Masoyi in Mpumalanga near White River. The community near this illegal military training base has informed the Mpumalanga Police about the illegal training camp.
In the SAPS statement which was issued in 26 July it was stated that , the team led by SAPS detectives arrived at the farm this morning they found the fooreign Libyans nationals in a military tents. Military training equipment was also found including licensed firearms.
Senzo Mchunu the Minister of Police , together with Deputy Minister , Mr. Cassel Mathale together with National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola visited and have conclude a walkabout of the site where an illegal military training base was established. Senzo Mchunu informed the public on his official social media accounts that 95 foreign national Libyan's have been arrested,
The day after the incident Mchunu shared the media advisory which state that , during the operation in 26 July 2024 , 95 foreign nationals which were Libyan's were apprehended and are currently being questioned by relevant authorities.

Briefing media Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu said ,'' they are in police custody as we speak and that means we are going to follow two processes but we decided to proceed after getting this report to the camp itself , what we have seen here inside confirms what is contained in the reports that were represented to us.'' Mchunu also said that the property owners violated certain regulations as per their application to for a security training facility.

On the 26 of July , the South African Police Service issued a statement which state that , the national commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola assures the nation that the SAPS will ensure a thorough investigation into allegations that 95 Libyan nationals arrested at a farm in White River, Mpumalanga were allegedly receiving military training.
The police said they are working closely with the department of Home Affairs and the team of detectives is investigating all suspicious activities that are taking place at the farm
The Statement also assures that , Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is on this case to determine the circumstances surrounding how these nationals obtained their visas.
The Statement continues to inform the public that , General Masemola has called for calm and says he has full confidence in the team that is working on this cases. He added that police will leave no stone unturned in getting to the bottom of what kind of activities have been taking place on the farm.
“During the takedown operation, police also found dagga and cocaine. Some of the other drugs found in their possession are being sent to the SAPS Forensic Science Laboratory in Pretoria to identify them as illegal substances. The safety and security of our citizens is of paramount importance and the SAPS remains committed to dealing decisively with transnational organised crime.”, said Gen Masemola
